Sessions

All massage sessions will begin with a brief health intake. This process goes over any issues, areas of focus, and outlines a plan for your session. First time clients should expect this process to take anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Once Kristiana is familiar with you this process will become much quicker.

After the intake you are ready for the massage! See below for specifics on what to expect on each offering.

*For specifics on covid-19 protocols session please see the note at the bottom of the page.

What to Expect During a Lomi Lomi Session:

Lomi massage is an oil based massage done on a massage table. The table will not have a bottom sheet, but will be draped with a top sheet. The table's vinyl is thoroughly washed between clients.

Clients typically undress completely for these sessions and are covered in a sheet for privacy. Draping for Lomi tends to unveil more of the body than a typical Swedish or deep tissue massage. Please let Kristiana know if you have any draping concerns. Modifications can be made, but please note that Lomi massage strokes may be limited by excess draping or clothing.

Prior to the session Kristiana will step out of the room to allow you to change and get on the table. You will position yourself face down to begin on the table. Cover yourself under the top sheet. Kristiana will knock before reentering the room to begin the session.

What to Expect for Thai Massage:

Ahead of Time:

This is a clothed type of massage. Please wear or bring with you loose fitted clothing. For example yoga/active wear or pajamas work great. Stretchy material is best.

The Session:

Thai massage is done on the floor on a cushioned floor mat. Pillows and blankets may also be used. A clean sheet is placed on the mat for each client. You will lay on top of the sheet to begin the session.

This session usually begins face up with grounding work at the feet to help you settle into the space.

What to Expect for Hot Stones Sessions:

Full Length Sessions:

A real meditative and therapeutic experience. There are two types of stones, moving and placement. The moving stones are used to warm and massage each area of your body. The placement stones rest on pressure points throughout the body. These stones help to ground you and slow your mind for deep relaxation.

This session is done on a massage table with oil.

Clients typically undress for these sessions and are draped for privacy. Towels are used under placement stones to prevent heat irritation.

Add-on to Lomi or Thai:

30 minutes of Hot stones can be added to either session. For Thai massage only placement stones will be integrated into the session as a transition between sides of the body, or as a meditation at the end of a session. Lomi will incorporate both. Please inquire ahead of time if you would like to add this to your massage.
